I'm going to go ahead an call this one. The Boston Red Sox have won the 2007 World Series. Even when the Colorado Rockies got close, The Red Sox would come out and score 10 runs. The Red Sox took the fire that the got at the end of the ALCS and carried it right into the World Series, meanwhile the Rockies have seemed dead since game 1. Looks like the layoff after the NLCS wasn't a good thing for Colorado.
This is the 2nd World Series Championship for the Boston Red Sox in the last 4 years. Considering they went 80-some odd year without winning, that's quite a run. Even better for them is that the Yankees have been biting it over the past several years.
The Red Sox look to be lined up for many years to come so don't be surprised if you see them back in for the 2008 World Series.

Boston Beats Crap Out of Rockies in Game 1
Rocktober indeed.
Currently it is only the 7th inning of Game 1, but I'm going to go ahead and say that the Boston Red Sox are beating the crap out of the Colorado Rockies. The Red Sox are winning 12-1 and Josh Beckett has been all but unstoppable. He gave up a few hits in the earlier innings, but right now he has 9 strikeouts. Ridonkulous.
Anyways, I think the Rockies are a fun team so hopefully the rest of the series goes a big better for them. If they go back to Denver and are down 2-0, I don't know that there is much of a chance for them. Boston is racking up points like candy (They outscored Cleveland 30-5 in the final 3 games of the ALCS) and they could really light up the bang box that is Coors Field.
Of course the game didn't start right at 8pm tonight but Game 2 is listed to start at 8pm on Thursday.

Pitching for the Colorado Rockies will be 26 year old Jeff Francis. Coming in at 6'5", Francis can be a presence on the mound. With 17 wins and a 4.22 ERA, Jeff Francis doesn't have quite the stats of Josh Beckett, but it will be a good matchup.

Colorado Rockies World Series Update 2007
The big news around the Colorado Rockies has been about their World Series tickets sales system. A few days ago they opened up ticket sales online and the system crashed, apparently due to an "attack" in which people were attempting to hoard more tickets than they were allowed.
On Tuesday the Rockies reopened their online ticket sales and sold out more than 50,000 World Series tickets within 2.5 hours.
Complaints have been flying around about the online ticket sales as not all fans have access to the internet and fans that have a faster internet connection or more than one computer would have a much better chance of getting into the system and getting tickets.

Boston Red Sox World Series 2007 Update
Pitcher Tim Wakefield has been left off the Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series roster due to a bad shoulder. Wakefield pitched once this postseason, allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings in Game 4 of the AL Championship Series against the Cleveland Indians.
Jacoby Ellsbury will start World Series Game 1 in center field for the Boston Red Sox. Coco Crisp is their susual center fielder but he has struggled in the playoffs. Coco Crisp was brought into the game in the 9th inning of the American League Championship Series and banged his knee during the final play of the game.

Colorado Rockies Rocktober
The Colorado Rockies have filed for a copyright on the phrase "Rocktober" which is a combination of the words "Rockies" and "October" - October being the month through which the Major League Playoffs are held. I don't know who first coined the phrase Rocktober, but apparently it has been flying around the Denver / Colorado area a lot over the last few weeks as the Rockies swept the Diamondbacks and made their way into the first World Series in franchise history.
No doubt we will be seeing a lot of "Rocktober" signs around Coors Field in the next two weeks. The Rockies mainly want to keep other people from selling merchandise that contains the phrase Roctober, and keep all the money for themselves. From a business sense, you can't blame them. If The Rockies go on to win the 2007 World Series, it could be quite a cash cow for the team. Kids all over the country will be wearing Rocktober gear.
Reminds me of the phrase "Three-pete" which I believe was trademarked by Pat Riley.

2007 World Series Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the right to play in the 2007 World Series. The Colorado Rockies have been on a great winning streak that began during the the last part of their regular season. The Rockies have since won 21 of their last 22 games, and have yet to lose a playoff game this season. The Rockies defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in 3 straight games and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 4 straight games.
Contrasting with the long history of the Boston Red Sox, this is only the 15th season that the Colorado Rockies have been in existence. The Rockies have never played in a World Series and they have been to the playoffs on only one other occasion.
